The transformation of 304 Market Street into a home for Sanctuary Community Action in 2011 was only possible because of the extraordinary generosity of our community. With the vital support from Mark Ramser, who donated the house to us, individuals, churches, local organizations, and partners stepped forward—along with the Mount Vernon Knox County Community Foundation, the Richard and Arlene Lander Foundation, and Operation Roundup from Licking Rural Electric.
No tax dollars were used—this was a project built entirely by the people who believe in our mission. From donors and foundations to businesses, contractors, and volunteers, every hand that contributed played a role. The renovation of the house at 304 Market Street and the construction of the facility for Danville Interchurch just behind it at 304 ½ Market Street were completed in 2011, providing a much-needed improved facility.
This project was possible through the generosity of the entire community—individuals, churches, organizations, and grants from the Mount Vernon Knox County Community Foundation, the Richard and Arlene Lander Foundation, and Operation Roundup from Licking Rural Electric. We are most grateful to everyone involved. Thank you to the many individuals, businesses, and contractors for their generous assistance in making this possible.
